Learning Target: I can ask questions to extend my understanding of the message in the article.
When you Ask Questions you...
- ask something the story does not already answer for you.
- ask something related to what you just read
- ask something that you do not already know the answer to
- ask something that will make you learn more about the topic
Examples of Weak Questions for the Intro section:
- What is a boma? (The story answers that for you)
- Why do the cows raise their heads? (This is an inference. You can figure it out from reading more. Also, it isn't about understanding the main idea of this section.)
Examples of Strong Questions for the Intro section:
- What did the villagers do to scare off the lioness without being attacked themselves? (The story didn't say or give clues. It could help us understand more about the story title Living with Lions and how people interact with the lions. )
Write the title of the section you read.
Write a strong question for that section.
Later, go back and answer someone else's question.
